My ink map entitled “Off the Grid” is featured in Mapping Manhattan: A Love (and Sometimes Hate) Story in Maps by 75 New Yorkers by Becky Cooper, published by Abrams on April 2, 2013.

Becky once described maps to me as "accidental autobiographies." My map is different in that I created it as an island of wishful future memories, my Manhattan bucket list. I drew it during my junior spring, which I remember as a maze of meetings, rehearsals, midterms, and checklists.

I wanted to press pause. I wanted to paint. I wanted to read books, ones that weren't on a syllabus. I wanted to be in Manhattan, where each city block is a collision of stories and identities. I weaved my dreams for that summer into a map of the city, and with each pen stroke, felt a little less lost.
